This month, Alpha-Purify were thrilled to be exhibiting at their first event, demonstrating the company’s UV disinfection lamps at SeaAsia in Singapore. With Singapore being the leading maritime capital of the world Alpha-Purify had the opportunity to be involved in an event which expected to see over 15,000 international visitors and 450 exhibitors from the global marine industry.
Our head of Global Sales, Berenika Bond and Production Manager, Leon Fuller, visited SeaAsia and found that there were many advantages to attending this event. Alpha-Purify were able to connect with existing and potential customers from the maritime industry and it offered the team the opportunity to gather a lot of market insight and learn about industry trends. One of the points that both team members picked up, was that there is still a need to educate ship owners about the advantages of using UV based ballast water management systems instead of using potentially hazardous chemicals.
This industry is expecting a change in the future though, as the world takes a greater leap forward into preventing climate change and protecting the environment. Recent years have seen the International Maritime Organization change regulations regarding wastewater discharge, so education in this area is moving forward and Alpha-Purify are already on-board to support this change.
Berenika also observed that, “Shipping is forecast to see a shift toward greater use of non- fossil fuel energy for propulsion by 2050” which again, suggests that the maritime industry is taking steps to become more environmentally friendly and UV disinfection certainly meets that criteria. The team at Alpha-Purify are currently working on new lamp designs and researching the latest technology to stay ahead of the competition!
